Minimum One (1) year of recent experience in Radio network design, implementation and/or optimization on UMTS systems. (drive test experience alone does not qualify)

  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Evaluate new feature performance related to EVDO and its impact on existing system resources.

    • Perform Baseline testing which benchmarks the network performance over the test area defined in the test plan prior to enabling 1xEV-DO. This includes operational measurement data collection during this time.
    • Perform system evaluation test of the 1xEV-DO base software load and hardware installation. This includes over-the-air testing, in-building tests, and operational measurement collection during this time.
    • Perform functionality and performance testing of 1xEV-DO. This includes over-the-air testing, in-building tests, and operational measurement collection during this time.
    • Advanced working Knowledge of CDMA vendor parameters, scripting and processing of switch logs for either of the following (Lucent, Nortel, Samsung and Motorola CDMA Networks).
    • Optimization skills required include the identification and fixing of network problems related to voice and data performance pegs.
    • Must know how to analyze layer 3 messaging and CDMA 1XRTT and EV-DO call flow, including handoff between 1xRTT and EvDO data calls.
    • Ability to process and analyze drive test data, and make recommendations to correct performance problems involving data throughput, delay and packet loss or call drop.
    • Ability to implement hard handoffs and troubleshoot neighbor list and search window issues.

In addition to the above, the candidate must also possess Intimate knowledge of CDMA RF engineering, including:

    • Radio propagation analysis and modeling.
    • Data communication networks analysis including but not limited to throughput, latency, data rates, etc.
    • Knowledge of 1xEv-DO system operation and network overlay design scenarios, including colocation issues such as antenna sharing and configuration.
    • Familiarity with Ev-Do packet data protocols, power and rate control schemes as well as radio resource scheduling techniques is essential.
    • A working knowledge of CDMA 1xRTT voice and packet data as well as hands-on experience with either of the following vendor platforms for 1xRTT (Lucent, Nortel, Samsung and Motorola CDMA network configurations).
    • Ability to write scripts on UNIX platforms or in ACTIX to extract and post-process data with custom requirements.
    • Ability to create reports and presentations using Microsoft word and Microsoft power point.Ability to present and discuss results of analysis.
